Howden Screw Compressors
Howden Compressors company began manufacturing screw compressors as one of the first in the world in 1938 and has wide experience in their manufacture.
Production of screw compressors at the company's facilities is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment that ensures high precision machining of key parts including rotors and housing parts and high manufacturing quality and operational reliability accordingly. Oil-injected screw compressors manufactured by Howden Compressors cover a range of theoretical volumetric capacities from 300 to 10,500 cubic meters per hour.
Howden Compressors company manufactures two types of screw compressors:
- XRV type operates using rolling bearings and equipped with relatively simple shape case
- WRV type operates using journal bearings and equipped with double- wall case.

Oil-injected compressor Howden XRV represents an oil-filled volumetric rotor unit with controlled power.
Operating medium compression is achieved by combining two screw rotors on parallel shafts mounted in the crankcase.
The XRV range includes rotors of three diameters: 127, 163 and 204 mm..

XRV specifications and advantages:

- Special end caps ensure convenient access to rotation parts.
XRV compressors have various options of the design for geometric compression ratio from 2.2 to 5.8.
Designs with adjustment of the compression ratio from 2.2 to 5 in manual and automatic modes are also manufactured. The design provides for special connection enabling to use compressors in the economizer operation cycle with additional steam supply. A hydraulically-driven valve gear for 20-100% range is used for performance adjustment.
XRV127 compressor is manufactured in 4 versions differing in transmission ratio values.

WRV compressors
Multipurpose process compressors for practical applications in any field


WRV series has 4 basic typical sizes, from 2 to 6 options of length-diameter ratio are offered (all compressors are with clockwise direction)
WRV specifications and advantages:
- Journal bearings - Long life.
- Two-wall design - Suitable for high-pressure operation.
- Structure materials can be selected to meet project specifications (e.g. API 619).
- Oil-injected bearings / seals design - High-quality gas-tight sealing simple design
- Capacity: The widest capacity range is offered.
- Number of WRV compressors installed all over the world is over 25,000.
WRV compressors can be used both for process gas compression and for artificial cooling.

All WRV series compressors are of double-wall design and use babbitt journal bearings with hermetical shaft sealing.
The wide range of Vi volume ratios from 2.1 to 5.8 is available for each compressor while capacity control by means of a slide valve is standard on all compressors. In addition there are a lot of possible options of standard design e.g.:
Option M
Mirror - for reversible rotation, with symmetrical drive motor and two-stage design.
Option H
Higher pressure - option with higher discharge pressure.
Option X
eXtra high - design with ultra high location of the delivery nozzle.
Option T
Tilting pad - equipped with fluid bearings e.g. for compliance with API 619.
Option S
Steel casings - steel casing for operation under high pressure or for compliance with special technical requirements.
Option N
Nodular cast iron design - case made of nodular cast iron for compliance with project specific technical specifications.
